Hearts’ Plead

Children’s hearts plead

Death, their world gone

Blood drips, brains sucked

Last week they slept carefree

Last night they changed positions

Dreams of birth in their head

Snuggled warm in the dark

Thumbs sucked, hands close by

Morning comes, an unexpected end

Footsteps heard outside in the light

Mothers with no despair, no feeling

Knives cut deep, brains sucked out

Remnants of humans discarded

Blood soaked linen, sent to launder

Death comes quickly for most

A few suffer, life lingering on

Human rights abridged, life robbed

Infant murder, a country’s plight

The ticker counts the number dead

Guilt fills the mothers’ womb

Where once an infant grew

Disgust and sorrow offers no reward

But for those who suck the baby brains

More money for their bank accounts
